While Aflac is a great option to make sure you’re financially covered in the event of an illness or injury, did you know that it can also be a great way to keep your whole family safe?
Whether you’re just looking to cover your spouse or you want to extend coverage to your kids, Aflac can help make sure you’re able to afford all the extra costs that come with medical treatment.
The money from Aflac can be put toward anything like, the copayment your insurance doesn’t cover, paying you in case you have to take off work to take care of a loved one, and anything else that might come to mind, since Aflac is not like your health insurance. The money from your claims doesn’t go to your doctor or the hospital, it goes to you.
Aflac’s Accident Plan
I don’t think its rude to say that kids are accident prone. Whether they’re just making silly mistakes, getting injured in sports, or because they just won’t stop running everywhere, they’re bound to bump their head, get some scrapes, or maybe even break a bone.
If anything like this happens, its on you to take care of the medical bills that manage to eek past your insurance. You might have to take time off to drive them to the doctor’s and they might miss school, which is stressful for both you and them! Adding your kid to your accident plan is a great way to be covered in case something like that happens.

Aflac’s Critical Illness Plan
By just signing up for the Critical Illness plan your children are instantly covered at 50% of your payout. That means that they have coverage for nearly everything you do (dependents don’t get wellness coverage), just with half of the amount of money per claim.
On top of that, by signing up through SDPEBA you automatically get the Childhood Illness rider. This rider provides a benefit if your dependent child is diagnosed with additional diseases often found at a young age such as: cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, cleft lip/cleft palate, down syndrome, PKU, spina bifida, type 1 diabetes, or autism spectrum disorder. This is on top of the illnesses that the main policy holder has coverage for.

Aflac’s Hospital Indemnity Plan
Since health has been front of mind lately, the hospital plan is a great way to make sure your family is covered should they end up in the hospital or need to see a doctor for a new or preexisting illness.
If anything serious occurs and one of your loved ones ends up in the hospital that might force you to make some radical changes to your life in order to support them and keep yourself financially afloat. The hospital plan can help make that possible.

Aflac’s Life Insurance Plan
Like most Life Insurance plans, you can get a Life Insurance plan from Aflac for your kids, but you need to take the plan for yourself in order to do so. One of the main benefits of electing for our version of the plan is that for less than $3 a pay period you can get a $10,000 for all of your kids, which makes this type of coverage extremely affordable.
Keep in mind that you need to elect for Aflac’s version of the life insurance plan. You most likely already have a plan through the County, so this would be an additional policy you sign up for, but for that low of a price, it might be worth it!
If you have any questions about the Aflac Life Insurance plan or would like to sign up for it, email us at [email protected] or call us at 888-315-8027.
