5 Benefits you Might be Wasting

Happy New Years! For 2021, we really hope you consider adding another resolution: utilize all of your benefits!

From Aflac to Identity Guard to VSP, SDPEBA offers a lot of benefit options. And because of that we understand that it is often difficult to keep track of all your benefits. Meaning, it turns out that AM PM was wrong, and that there is such a thing as “too much good stuff,” especially if you’re paying for it, and not using it!

VSP’s Second Pair

This is bar none, one of the coolest benefits we offer (although I admit I am biased since I tend to break my glasses frequently). You probably know that with VSP you have a $150 allowance on a pair of frames, 100% coverage on standard, bifocal, and trifocal lenses, and a whole suite of discounts (usually around 20% off) other vision perks and bonuses.

But did you know you can use that whole list of benefits twice? Our two pair plan gives you access to just that, two pairs of glasses. Or one pair and a $150 allowance on contacts. This level of customization makes it easy to get a pair of glasses exclusively for working in front of a computer, to get a pair of prescription sunglasses, to get a backup pair in case you drop yours in a pot of gluten-free spaghetti noodles (no comment), or even just a second pair that matches different outfits.

The list goes on and is only limited by how creative you want to get with your second pair. If you'd like help on how to exactly use your insurance, click here!

Aflac’s Claims

Our three Aflac plans (Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity) all offer very different coverage for different types of emergencies. They are each designed to help you in case something happens, but none of that matters if you never file a claim with us alerting us that something happened!

If you’ve signed up for Aflac and you experience an emergency that fits under your plan, file a claim! Well, you should get safe first. Don’t call SDPEBA to file a claim before you call 911.

Once you are settled, you should file a claim with us. Don’t know how? Click here.

MetLife Legal

Did you sign up for MetLife legal with the intention to write your will/trust and then never actually do it? If so, you’re not alone.

If you have MetLife Legal you have access to dozens of personal legal services. From access to representation, to consultations, to just plain old legal advice, there’s plenty of options to make use of.

One that is often overlooked is their legal helpline. Through it, you have access to legal experts who can advise you on how to settle a myriad of legal problems. If you have MetLife Legal and want to make use of their services head to LegalPlans.com or contact us at [email protected].

Identity Guard’s Scanning

Aura’s Identity Guard offers a lot of passive protection for its users. Their alert system does an excellent job at informing you when something needs your attention, but their site also offers plenty of active use tools that you can use to up your cybersecurity.

With Identity Guard, you have access to a safe browsing tool, a risk management report, and advice on how you can safely preserve your information online. If you have Identity Guard and want to make better use of it, click here.

Preventative Care

Preventative care refers to the work you do to keep yourself safe from illness and disease. Aflac offers accident and critical injury plan holders up to $50 in wellness screenings, and also offers members of their hospital plan coverage on visits to the hospital. These benefits often go unused, click here for an article with more information.

We do our best to offer the best plans available and give you the tools to use them effectively. We understand that life is busy and it might be hard to keep track of what exactly you’re getting with each of your plans, but we’re here to help.

If you have any questions about these plans or need help accessing them, click here and check out our support page. There we offer a host of articles all on helping you make the most of your benefits.
