All about the Retired Fire and Police Association

What is the RFPA? – Road to Retirement

The RFPA (Retired Fire and Police Association) is a group of retired firefighters, police officers, and life guards whose goal is to provide support and representation to their members. This group is only for sworn fire, police, and lifeguard staff, for any other retired City employees, click here.

The RFPA was incorporated in 1948 with a commitment to represent and assist firefighters, police officers, lifeguards, and their families. The group is dedicated to helping advance the social and economic welfare of its members and has been working to help the City and its retirees for the past 74 years.

What does the RFPA do?

This association focuses on advocacy and giving back to the community. The RFPA is a part of the Retiree Issues Task Force (a group of retiree associations who oversee issues that might affect retirement), hosts monthly member meetings, and supplies access to benefits through their partnership with SDPEBA. They also raise money for local charities, host memorial services, and support local fire/police/lifeguard families who recently lost a loved one.

Members of the RFPA can participate in monthly meetings, give their input on key issues facing retirees, and will receive regular newsletters updating them on important information. The RFPA’s monthly meetings are held in Tierra Santa.
