Hello! We’re posting this blog so you’re aware specifically of the choices we’re making and why we’re making them.
SDPEBA is here to help you receive your benefits. That involves signing you up, explaining what benefits you’re getting, and how to use them. But once Open Enrollment is done, we shift our focus to helping explain and make the most out of those benefits and provide you with interesting articles about things related to health, wellness, or San Diego.
That’s what the blogs and our video content (Webinar Wednesday and PEBA Talks) are for. We do this to entertain, explain, and help you!
Right now, Webinar Wednesdays and PEBA Talks are kind of filling the same role. Both of these programs allow experts to come in and explain something complicated to you in detail—but the process of filming and accessing them couldn’t be more different.
Webinar Wednesdays require a live or prerecorded presentation from a 3rd party vendor, alongside a PowerPoint presentation, and a moderator in chat to answer questions. Once the webinars are finished, it is relatively difficult to access them, meaning if you’re not catching them live, well, you probably won’t see them at all.
PEBA Talks on the other hand are prerecorded entirely by Will Stover, SDPEBA’s talking head, and while they require the 3rd party vendor/person to do some research or to put together resources, most of that can be optional since the main point of the PEBA Talk is the interview Will is conducting. Basically, this format makes it easier for us to provide targeted information that is relevant to our members and to get presenters lined up since they have to do less to get the same information out there. On top of that, PEBA Talks are just videos! We can link to them, embed them in emails, or place them on our site without any trouble.
Which is probably why PEBA Talks are a lot more successful than our Webinars.
For all of these reasons, we’ve decided we’re going to switch things up and put more effort into PEBA Talks and scale back our Webinar Wednesdays. That’s not to say we’re going to eliminate webinars completely; they just won’t be posted weekly anymore.
We apologize if you were a big fan of the webinars, but we hope you understand that by doing this, we’ll be able to help more people solve more problems and this will make future webinars better.
Thank you for allowing us to experiment and tweak things so we can find out the best way to get this important information out to you. We sincerely appreciate you and all that you do for the City.
