Changes to Aura – Quality of Life Upgrades
Aura has had a major overhaul this year and we’re going to break it down in this article. If you’re unaware of Aura, it’s our cyber security benefit that provides a lot of different tools to keep you safe online.
Aura was once known as Aura Identity Guard and before that there was a comparable service offered called “Life Lock.” The big draw of these older plans was that they covered you if your identity was ever stolen. Now Aura offers the “Ultimate Plan” which covers you for far more than just identity theft.
Here is a general look at what features the ultimate plan offers:
- $5 million dollars of coverage in Identity Theft Insurance
- $500 “Lost Wallet” protection
- Credit Monitoring/Credit Locks
- Identity Fraud alerts and monitoring
- Access to a great VPN and password manager
- Encrypted Cloud Storage
- Child Safety apps like Parental Control and Cyberbully monitors
- AI Call and Text screening
- And a lot more
The biggest new additions are the financial protection options, the VPN, and the encrypted cloud storage. We haven’t gotten to personally try out the AI call and text screening, but I imagine if that works as well as the version that comes on Google’s pixel phones it will also be extremely useful.
Overall, this upgrade to Aura makes it a lot more of an easy addition into your life. You can manage all of the features of this plan through an app on your phone or computer and after a little bit of set up it can seamlessly start protecting you online.
The older “Identity Guard” app was extremely useful, but we always said that “you get as much as you put into it.” As in, the more you actively used the app, the more it protected you passively. With the new plan it still will take some set up, but once you’re using these features, you’ll actively see what this benefit does for you daily.
This plan still does offer the extremely popular “Family Plan” version as well. Which can be shared with 10 adults and unlimited minors. I personally use this plan with my parents and grandmother to keep them safe from the recent increase in scam calls and texts.
